cube09Cube Gallery for the Urban Environment Now in its third year - Artists, architects and designers are welcome to submit work that responds to our theme of the urban built environment. Selected entries will be exhibited at CUBE with the overall winner receiving a residency in the gallery in 2010 and £1000 - two runners up will receive £250 each. Selectors for 2009 are Leo Fitzmaurice, Sans Façon, CUBE Creative Director Jane Anderson and last year's winner Andrea Booker. languageslenseslogoELIA is looking for proposals for short videos (1 or 3 minutes) within the context of the European Commission’s promotion of multilingualism. The competition is being organised as a contribution to the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009. Selected applicant will receive a €5000 grant in order to complete their video. A maximum of 15 proposals will be selected. The selected films will be presented during the PRIX EUROPA Festival in Berlin (17th to 24th October 2009). Media experts will lead workshops for the selected students and their supervisors. Travel and participation costs will be covered. Wildlife Photographer of the YearVeolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2009 has 17 categories (14 for adults and three for children). The adult categories range from animal behaviour and plants to urban wildlife and underwater photography. There are also special awards for images of endangered wildlife and portfolios taken by photographers aged 18–26. As well as the Natural History Museum exhibition, the winning images tour regionally and internationally to more than 60 cities. The photos are also published in a hardback book and in a special supplement of BBC Wildlife Magazine. The competition has been running annually since 1964.
Prize money is £10,000 for the overall winner and up to £1,000 for the category winners. wpy_09_hallThe overall winner of the Veolia Environnement Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year title receives £500 and a day’s workshop with a professional wildlife photographer. Category winners receive £250. Maybe best of all is that sholrlisted entrants get to attend a dinner in the Natural History Museum's famous Central Hall under the eyes of the Diplodocus skeleton.
